Lisa Every

(she/her)
Artistic Associate & Resident Playwright

Lisa has been in love with theatre since she was a kid, performing on stages in her native Houston. Since moving to Seattle shortly after college, she has worked with several local theatres. Close to her heart are the years she spent with the nomadic The Community Theatre (later Bash) which she cofounded. Favorite roles include Sylvia (Sylvia), May (Fool for Love) Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Lauren (Happy, Happy, Happy…). She has also collaborated with Try This Films creating roles in the films Browns Canyon and Phoebe’s Father among other projects.

Lisa joined forces with her artistic partner Jenn Ruzumna in the mid 2000’s to write stories about and strong roles for women. This collaboration has produced countless drafts, several ten minute plays and two full-length productions which had their world-premieres in Seattle; Happy, Happy, Happy… in 2017 and The Fifth Wave in 2022.

Lisa served as an Artistic Associate of Macha Theatre Works from 2017-2023. This work allowed her to be part of creating a home for the many talented and diverse female voices making theatre in the Seattle community. In 2023, that work brought her to Seattle Public Theater where she is a Resident Playwright and Artistic Associate.

She finds it especially gratifying to support and collaborate with other artists as they develop their work and is thrilled to be in a new home on Greenlake that promotes community and connection through the arts.
