PREVIEW JANUARY 28 2010 THE VIOLET HOUR
By Richard Greenberg
|
It's that time -- that wonderful New York hour when the evening's about to reward you for that day.
~Denis (Denny) McCleary in The Violet Hour
Seattle Public Theater travels back to the future in Richard Greenberg’s The Violet Hour.
It’s New York, 1919 - a bubble in time after a horrible war and before a financial crash. Young publisher John Pace Seavering, eager to make his mark upon the world, has to choose between publishing the work of a friend or a lover. The trajectory of their lives lies in the balance of his choice. When a mysterious machine appears, Seavering must decide if the future is pre-written and unchangeable, or if he has the power – and the responsibility - to shape what is to come.
A post-show discussion with the cast and director is scheduled for after the 2:00 PM matinee Sunday, February 7th.
Directed by Rita Giomi. Featuring Shanna Allman, Shawn Law, Eric Reidman, Evan Whitfield and Amber Wolfe.
"It's a beautiful, imaginative play and SeattlePblic Theater has given it an excellent production."
