SEATTLE PUBLIC THEATER ANNOUNCES
THE 2010-2011 SEASON!

HAPPINESS IS JUST AROUND THE BEND
Seattle Public Theater Asks, “What Makes Us Happy?” in its 2010-2011 Season

SEATTLE— Seattle Public Theater invites audiences to follow a diverse cast of characters as they chase money, glory, success, and love in the 2010-2011 season at the historic Bathhouse Theater on Green Lake.

The season opens with Theresa Rebeck’s suspenseful thriller, Mauritius.  Surprisingly, stamp collecting is riskier than one might think.   Jackie and Mary are half-sisters whose mother’s death leaves them in possession of a rare stamp collection. But which sister actually owns the stamps? Which of three dealers can be trusted with their sale? Running October 1st-24th, Mauritius is a gripping new play from the Pulitzer-prize nominated author who's been called a "female David Mamet.”

Start the New Year with the rueful family comedy, My Wonderful Day, by Alan Ayckbourn, running January 28th-February 20th, 2011.  In My Wonderful Day, adult follies are seen through the eyes of a smart and wearily innocent nine year old girl. SPT’s production is the Seattle premiere of the 73rd show by the award-winning British expert of social satire and comedy.

What does it mean to be truly happy? Explore the meaning March 18th-April 10th, 2011 in the tragically funny drama The Happy Ones by Julie Marie Myatt.  When tragedy strikes Walter, the only person who can help him reclaim his life is the person who inadvertently destroyed it. The Happy Ones is an uplifting and, surprisingly funny, new play by a rising star in American theater.

SPT’s season wraps up May 20th-June 12th with the a fresh look at George Bernard Shaw’s charming and delightful classic, Arms and the Man. Here is the master of wit and social comedy at his most entertaining and romantic. As heroism and militarism are laid bare against the foibles of middle-class pretensions, love and romance run amok.

An SPT season would not be complete without a holiday treat.  This year, SPT introduces the fresh, funny and moving Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol by Tom Mula running December 3rd-24th along with the ever-popular The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, running December 10th-24th.  Both shows are add-ons to SPT’s regular season, but surely not to be crossed off that holiday list!

Season and single tickets are on sale!  Adult four show packages start as low as $80 and three show packages start at $60.  They can be purchased by phone at (206) 524-1300 or online here:
